Drifting Calmly 38 cm by 25.5 cm Color pencils on illustration board December 2020 Drifting Calmly was made to represent the calmness someone feels when nothing is on their mind. A form of peace that can be found when traveling to somewhere far, like Guatemala. It includes some of Guatemala's tourist attractions which can be seen blended with the water at the bottom. Drifting Calmly takes inspiration from Istvan Banyai's digital illustration Green! Shanghai. |
OVERLOAD 38 cm by 25.5 cm Color pencils on illustration board December 2020 OVERLOAD was made to represent the exhaustion and stress that can come with school. This stress is created by the insufficient time one feels in order to complete work and the thoughts that may come up as well. The stress is represented through the signs and clocks placed in front of the girl. OVERLOAD takes inspiration from Istvan Banyai's digital piece Time. |
Am I? 27cm x 47cm x 38cm Cardboard March 2021 Am I? is a piece made to represent the first impression I make on people. This can be seen through the front area which is covered in black and white cardboard flowers. On the other hand, the back shows a much more colorful image with a variety of colorful flowers representing the true me, opposite from what others think I'm like. Am I? is inspired by Alexander Calder's Arc of Petals. |
Dash 61 cm by 61 cm Mixed Media March 2021 Dash uses shapes in various color and sizes. It has embroidery that makes up lines. The title of the piece is used to contradict the use of speed making this piece in attempts to make it appear cleanly. Dash takes inspiration from Wassily Kandinsky's piece Circles in a Circle. |
Transformation 91.44 cm by 91.44 cm Acrylic on Canvas April 2021 Transformation is a self-portrait inspired by both The Scream by Edvard Munch and Golden Tears by Anne-Marie Zylberman. The irregular use of lines takes inspiration from Munch's The Scream. The purple tears that are being shed, symbolize change. Transformation aims to convey the importance of staying strong even if that means things need to change. |
Growth
23 cm by 15 cm Linoleum sheet August 2020 Growth was inspired by Lill Tschudi's piece Orientierungslauf. It tells the story of a tree and how it overcame a struggle which is represented by the geometric shapes. The organic shapes in the sky are disoriented due to struggle represented by the organic shapes. With time it is able to overcome that struggle, grow and show its growth through the calm sky. As it grows, that struggle also became a part of who it is. |
Gaze
20.2 cm by 25 cm Color pencils on illustration board September 2021 My piece Gaze takes inspiration from Frank Stella's Jasper's Dilemma. The name is due to the illusion it gives off which is of an eye. The red organic lines are similar to the veins in an eye. The orange and purple colors signify determination and ambition while on the contrary the red lines give off a negative feeling. |
Far Memories 61 cm by 61 cm Mixed Media October 2021 Far Memories is inspired by Hilma af Klint’s The Ten Largest, No. 3, Youth. It includes things that are reminiscent of my childhood. The choice of color creates a cheerful mood and relates to how I felt when I was younger. This piece also includes embroidery to create added lines and give the piece texture. |
Alone 30.48 cm in diameter Embroidery December 2021 Alone is inspired by Edvard Munch's Separation. It's name is due to the person that is alone in the piece. It is about a person who is isolated and feels overwhelmed with a situation, without realizing that there are more things to look forward to. This is shown through the numerous colors and types of embroidery stitches seen in the piece: there are multiple things to look forward to. |
